Since the past year has brought new challenges across the globe, there are some important changes implemented to this year’s Camp process. A fun and safe reopening is our number one priority for your camper, and with that in mind, we have adapted protocols recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the American Camp Association (ACA). Each camper, counselors, staff member, and volunteer will need to adhere to our procedures to attend Camp. Our procedures are based the safety measures in place as of today, however, if there are any changes to our procedures between now and when Camp starts based on updated recommendations and protocols from the CDC, ACA, or even our host camp, we will notify you immediately.

Will we have to wear masks?

Not outdoors or in cabins. And because we’re outdoors 90% of the time, that’s a pretty good deal! However, we will require all camp attendees to carry a mask in their pocket at all times. There will be particular situations in which mask-wearing will occur—such as when getting food from the cafeteria, or when speaking with a host camp staff member indoors. Please aim to bring as many masks as possible due to the likelihood of masks getting dirty.

If not wearing masks makes you feel a little nervous, here’s the good news:

  1. Outdoors is the safest in terms of virus transmission.

  2. Our dining hall has a 250 person capacity, and it will only be our camp (approx. 40 people) and another camp (approx. 40 people) in this space.

  3. Every cabin (6 person capacity) has its own bathroom that will only be used by Camp Or L’Dor Participants.

Have questions or concerns? Don’t hesitate to email Doxia at doxia@camporldor.org.

How will you ensure that Participants don’t have COVID-19?

There are two options for Participants:

  1. Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.

  2. 10-Day Health Screening Procedure (temperature and symptoms check) + COVID-19 negative test result within 72 hours of arrival at Camp.

We will also be conducting a simple Health Screening Procedure (temperature and symptoms check) upon everyone’s arrival to Camp, as well as ongoing screenings throughout Camp.

Is there extra paperwork?

Yes. :-) We will be requiring your signature on two additional forms.

Consent to Health Pre-Screening and Ongoing Screening Procedures Form: This form will be requested ASAP via DocuSign upon accepted application to Camp.

Health Pre-Screening Procedure & Questionnaire Form: This form must be printed, signed, and brought to Camp.

What if someone develops COVID-19-related symptoms at Camp?

Our Camp Nurse will be monitoring for symptoms and will use the totality of the circumstance and caution to identify any Participant as being at risk of COVID-19. If any Camper or Participant has a fever and/or symptoms corresponding to COVID-19, they will be safely set apart immediately in a private cabin.

  • The Camp Nurse will conduct a rapid COVID-19 test on the individual.

  • If the test result is positive for COVID-19, the Camp Nurse will contact the Parents/Guardians/Caretakers of any minor, who will be asked to pick up the Participant and take them home as soon as possible. If the Parents/Guardians/Caretakers are not available for pick up, the emergency contact will be required to come get the Participant.

  • Camp Or L’Dor Staff will drive any Participant to the hospital if necessary, with the closest hospital being 30 minutes away.

  • Any Participant showing symptoms will be required to wear a medical grade mask.

  • If the test result is negative for COVID-19, the Camp Nurse will continue to closely monitor symptoms of the Participant and contact the Parents/Guardians/Caretakers of a minor Participant and update them on their status and make any necessary recommendations/decisions regarding the remainder of the Camper’s participation in Camp.
